BSI Group Chief Executive visits China

Howard Kerr, BSI Group’s newly appointed Chief Executive, will visit China next week – his first overseas visit since joining BSI, underlining the importance of China to BSI in developing its capabilities in one of the key growth economies of the world.

Since entering the Chinese market in 1990, BSI has successfully assisted Chinese authorities in establishing certification systems and has supported its standardization infrastructure. Today, BSI has 250 staff in China serving around 4,000 customers in improving their competitiveness both in local and global markets. This investment is set to increase over the coming years with strategic advancements planned throughout the country.

Howard Kerr, BSI Chief Executive, said of this visit, “Strengthening our presence in China is key to BSI’s growth and as such, I have made it my first overseas destination as Chief Executive of BSI Group. We have a long history of cooperation with China and I am eager to build on this. I am confident that BSI will be able to deliver growth opportunities in China and benefit Chinese businesses in sharing best practice. During this visit, which will be the first of many, I will be meeting key BSI management and staff as well as senior representatives of the China Britain Business Council and the British Embassy in China.”

Howard Kerr joined BSI earlier this month. He previously held a number of key leadership positions at SHV Holdings N.V. including Chief Executive, Calor Group Ltd, UK and Senior Vice-President, SHV Gas Netherlands. He has also occupied senior positions within Inchcape Plc. including extended assignments in the Middle East and Asia.
